"The finest butter and lots of time."
- F. Point
We will be starting deliveries again on Monday June 15th!
Please refer to the revised menu and let us know what you'll need.
We made our last delivery on March 23rd. In response to the Coronavirus outbreak, as our customers were closing their doors, we did the same. The potential for my staff to become infected is what drove me to close temporarily. I wanted everyone safe at home until we knew what was really happening. Almost 2 months later, I feel like we could potentially reopen in early June.
When we do finally reopen, I want to assure you that we will take the necessary precautions to keep ourselves safe, so that ultimately our customers are safe too. The menu will be pared down to start. I'll post a copy of current offerings here on the web site. As business picks up again, we will continue to bring back pieces that may not be available at first. Keep checking back.
Of course, we all wish that this had never happened. But it is a strange new world. Nothing to be taken lightly anymore. I just want to express my MOST SINCERE love and appreciation to the customers and friends who have reached out to check on me, my family, and my special little business. It has been a trying time for all of us. But so many of you took the time to check in - to see when we might be able reopen, offered help and so much support. I cannot thank you enough. We'll get through this, and hopefully be seeing you (or at least, making deliveries to you) in the very near future. THANK YOU.
Service is available 7 days a week to all customers.
Orders must be placed by 3 p.m. for next day delivery.
(with the exception of brioche, which requires 48-hour notice)
We specialize in hand-crafted, traditional-method breakfast pastries. Croissant, danish, scones, muffins, sticky buns and puff pastry items. All made in-house, from scratch. We hand cut and roll each individual piece with a gentle hand and the care it deserves.
We don't open up cans of apple filling or lemon filling. We peel, core and slice apples then cook them on the stove with butter, sugar and spices to make our danish filling. We zest and juice lemons, then cook the lemon with eggs and sugar to make lemon curd. We are purists - no additives or chemicals.
Each of us here at Hawthorne Fine Breakfast Pastry approach the work with a commitment to quality and a desire to produce our pastry to a European standard of excellence. We don't use dough conditioners, preservatives, or chemicals of any kind. We believe that what we put in our bodies is important. We feed the body as well as the soul.
Hawthorne Fine Breakfast Pastry crafts DAILY and bakes NIGHTLY traditional croissant, danish, scones, muffins, sticky buns and an assortment of puff-pastry items. We are strictly wholesale, delivering to some of the finest hotels in the DC metropolitan area, as well as restaurants, caterers, and specialty coffee houses. While adhering to traditional flavors and shapes of pastry, a lot of our flavors tend to run to the creative and wholly non-traditional. We’re not JUST cheese danish and pain au chocolat. Breakfast pastry lending itself as the vehicle, the flavors of fillings and glazes are at the whim of the chef.
